Passion for Life (P4L) The mission of Passion for Life, Inc. is to help high school students identify their passions and talents, and create a plan to turn their passion into rewarding careers. Passion for Life, Inc. is seeking an experienced and influential professional with an expertise and passion for business process improvement and/or compliance and operations to serve as a board member and chair responsible for leading the Operational Effectiveness Committee.

Job Description

The Passion for Life, Inc Board ensures that the organization is fiscally responsible, accountable and sustainable. Another primary role of all Board Members is to assist with fundraising to ensure successful operational performance through leveraging of their network and contacts for the furthering of the organization's overall mission.

In addition to board responsibilities, the Operations Committee Chair will lead and develop the Operational Effectiveness team. The chair will work in partnership with the board of directors and serve as liaison to the team assisting the organization in optimizing its effectiveness to serve the Atlanta community by ensuring operational excellence to achieve the mission and vision of Passion for Life, Inc.


  • The Board and Operations Committee Chair will oversee the following:
    Strategic Leadership and Planning: Work in conjunction with the board and committee to develop and maintain a strategy to ensure operational compliance. Lead a collaborative team of up to 5 committee members that will ideate, prioritize, develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to create, maintain and manage compliance and operational standards for Passion for Life, Inc.
  • Development: Responsible for building a team to assist with the development of operational plans and strategies ensuring compliance with best practices, development and enhancement of processes and overall effectiveness to deliver optimal service to stakeholders in the community.
  • Implementation: Will lead and provide guidance of team to assist with the execution of operational policies by developing plans as well as educating committees, volunteers and organizational stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and execute on operational goals and targets.
  • Track policies which need to be updated and revised and report to the committee
  • Assure the policy and procedure manual is complete and all policies formatted in the approved manner.

    Time Commitments and Accountabilities:
  • It is important that the candidate understands how much time it takes to serve on the Passion for Life, Inc board. Aside from regular meetings, board members are expected to also take charge of at least one committee or project and participate in the fundraising events and initiatives.
  • Term: 2 years
  • Time (approximate): A minimum time commitment of 10-12 hours per month
  • Monthly board meetings (2 hours)
  • Participate in committee meetings and related work (3-5 hours per month as determined by the committee)
  • Identify, linking other individuals and resources; meeting with potential donors/funders (3 hours monthly)
  • Attend Passion for Life, Inc. fundraising events and program functions (3-5 annually)
  • Qualifications
  • Passion and commitment to the organization’s mission and strategic directions
  • Proven results and expertise in one or more of the following industries: Business Process Improvement, Process Analysis, Process Management
  • Ability to strategically and operationally lead and/or facilitate performance improvement teams and projects from conception through completion
  • Adept at building trusting relationships while motivating / influencing others to adopt new best practices through fact-based analyses / discussion
  • Board experience preferred
  • Direct Leadership experience preferred
  • Prior experience in nonprofit environment a plus

Board Dues:

Board Members are required to pay annual dues
