Passion for Life (P4L) The mission of Passion for Life is to help high school students identify their passion and help them create a plan to turn them into rewarding careers.

Passion for Life, Inc. is seeking experienced and influential professionals, with a commitment to grow and expand the impact of the organization. Our ideal board candidate is a person that is solution focused and a doer! They are not afraid of fundraising and sales, because it is one of our main goals in our organizational growth strategy.

The Primary role of the Board is the raise funds for the operating budget of the organization and to leverage network and contacts for the furthering of the organization's mission. The board also ensures that the organization is fiscally responsible, accountable and sustainable.

Time commitments and Accountabilities:

It is important that the candidate understands how much time it takes to serve on the Passion for Life, Inc board. Aside from regular meetings, board members are expected to also take charge of at least one committee or project and participate in the fundraising events and initiatives.

  • 60% Financial and Resource Development: Assist with development and execution of fundraising strategy and initiatives. Identify and cultivate potential donors, corporate partners. Meet with and make calls to potential donors/funders to make a case for funding the organization to broaden our circle of supporters, link other individuals and resources.
  • 40% Governance and Strategic Execution: Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings (3rd Saturday of the month). Attend and lead and actively participate in committee meetings /calls or lead specific projects. Participate in the execution of project tasks to meet key milestones.


  • Expertise in one or more of the following industries: Human Resources, Sales, Marketing and Public Relations, Finance (CPA or Banking), Event Planning, Fundraising/Grant Writing, IT, Legal, and Operations (Process Management).
  • Board experience preferred
  • Direct Leadership experience preferred
  • Prior experience in nonprofit environment a plus

Term: 2 years

  • Time (approximate): A minimum time commitment of 10-15 hours per month
  • Monthly board meetings (2 hours)
  • Participate in committee meetings and related work (3-5 hours per month as determined by the committee)
  • Identify, linking other individuals and resources; meeting with potential donors/funders (5 hours monthly)
  • Attend Passion for Life, Inc. fundraising events and program functions (3-5 annually)

Board Dues:

Board Members are required to pay annual dues
